ATTENTION PLEASE
All ASD Convention Speakers and Seminar/Workshop Leaders
The American Society of Dowsers, Inc. wholeheartedly thanks you for your gracious understanding and cooperation in this matter.
1. All Members will be assessed a $1.00 program fee per meeting.
All non-members will be assessed a $2.00 program fee per meeting. (1982)
2. New members paying yearly dues after September 30th
will have the dues amount applied to the following year's membership. (1984)
3. Board members may receive reimbursement for expenses incurred while performing chapter business. (1985)
4. Members providing “requested services” for dowsing as a
chapter member, for which they receive a donation
for the chapter, may be reimbursed for their expenses. (1986)
5. The Board of Directors should meet at least twice a year, and more often
when business dictates. (1987)
6. Guests may attend no more than two meetings a year without joining the chapter. (1988)
7. There will be no family memberships after the year 1989. (1989)
8. Library usage and services:
Only current chapter/ASD members may use library materials and services for their
own use or the use of their families.
The librarian will have a current list of members to refer to or may ask to see the
current years membership cards before checking out books, tapes, or other items to individual members.
Books, tapes, and other items are to be returned at the next scheduled meeting, unless
specified otherwise. One reminder will
be sent to a lendee who fails to comply with the return policy. If the item is not
returned the lendee will be billed for the item or items plus a $5.00 fee. (1990)
9. As of February 1992, Policy 1 is revised to read:
“All members will be assessed a $1.00 program fee per meeting.
All non-members will be assessed a $3.00 program fee per meeting. ” (1991)
10. The membership list shall not be given to outside agencies without the approval of the
president. (1991)
11. The mileage allowance for personal car use while performing chapter
business shall be 25¢ per mile. (1992)
Office–PRESIDENT
Basic Function: The President shows leadership in the direction of the affairs of the Appalachian Chapter.
Duties:
1. Preside at all meetings of the Chapter and the Board of directors.
2. Be a member of all committees.
3. Make an annual report to the membership on the state of affairs of the Chapter.
4. In conjunction with the Treasurer, be responsible for the preparation and
organization of the financial matters of the Chapter.
5. Appoints and designates all committees not otherwise created.
6. Appoints a Newsletter coordinator.
a. Writes a “President’s Corner” for each of the four publications.
b. Gives directions to its publication.
7. Issue calls for regular and special meetings of the Board of directors.
8. Plans with the Board for upcoming programs and confers with the Vice President about the schedule for each program.
9. Perform such duties as are necessary to carry out the purpose of the Chapter.
Office–VICE PRESIDENT
Basic Function: The Vice President aids and assists the
President in directing the affairs of the Appalachian Chapter.
Duties:
1. Acts in place of the President in the absence of the President.
2. Responsible for program development under the general direction of the Board.
3. Confers with the President about scheduling for upcoming programs.
4. Confers with Treasurer in maintaining accurate records of expenditures/income related to speakers/conferences.
5. Responsible for facilities.
a. plan and arrange for the use of facilities
b. plan and arrange for use of equipment
c. give direction to directors-at-large
6. Perform such other duties as are necessary to carry out the purpose of the Chapter.
Notes:
Be sure to keep receipts for any expenditures for program. The Treasurer has a special expenditure schedule
for speaker’s use.
Plan with the Board for an “allowance” when planning programs (meals, travel, room,
honorarium). As a general guideline: Free
speakers or membership are used to present programs; $50 for local speakers; $100 plus travel expenses
for speakers in the southeastern region; honorarium plus airline ticket, room
and board for top name speakers (see file).
Office–SECRETARY
Basic Function: The
Secretary is responsible for recording and transcribing the minutes of all Chapter meetings and the minutes of
all Board meetings. The Secretary is also responsible for any pertinent Chapter correspondence.
Duties:
1. Records and transcribes the minutes of all Appalachian Chapter membership and Board meetings.
2. Issues copies of Chapter minutes and Board meeting minutes to all Board members within two weeks after each meeting.
3. Receives and answers all ASD correspondence.
a. Prepares a list of new officers, addresses and phone numbers to go to ASD Chapter Secretary after elections.
b. Reviews the monthly letter from ASD Headquarters and invites any new members in the NC,
GA, SC, TN, and VA vicinity that aren’t members of the Chapter to join. Reviews
inquiries and does the same.
c. Sends ASD Chapter Secretary a newsletter or an appropriate summary that can be passed
on to the editor of the ASD Digest for the “Chapter News” section.
4. Answers correspondence from Chapter members excluding financial correspondence.
a. Works closely with Treasurer to create an up-to-date membership list.
b. Has basic information on hand to send out about our Chapter or Dowsing in general (get from ASD)
5. Helps with registration table at each meeting. Purchase nametags to be used.
6. Coordinate a door prize for each meeting.
7. Performs any duties deemed necessary to carry out the job Secretary.
Notes:
Be sure to keep receipts of all purchases for the Chapter. Receipts
must be submitted to the Treasurer for reimbursement (see form).
Office–TREASURER
Basic Function: Plans and gives general direction to the
conduct of the financial activities, which includes the care and custody of
funds and other financial assets and the supervision of the banking function, of the Chapter.
Duties:
1. Administers the accounting of all financial matters in accord with sound accounting principles and practices.
2. Receives funds.
3. Deposits funds in a bank or investment accounts, which are approved by the Board of Directors.
4. Maintains custody of all cash funds and is accountable for the custodianship of cash funds and investments.
5. Maintains records, ledgers, balance sheets and financial statements, which detail the financial position of the Chapter.
6. Issue periodic financial reports as required:
a. Monthly to the President.
b. Quarterly at the membership meetings.
c. Annually to the President of the Chapter and to the Treasurer of the ASD. The report will include
income and expenditures for the year and cash on hand.
7. Pay all bills for expenses that have been authorized.
8. Work closely with the Secretary to maintain an up-to-date membership list.
9. Perform other duties as needed to carry out the activities of the Chapter.
Board Member – Director-at-Large
Basic Function: The Director-at-Large is a member in an
administrative role with the officers of the Appalachian Chapter who supports
the goals and purpose of the Chapter.
