Raymon Grace Raymon Grace, a native of Southwest Virginia, has been studying dowsing and forms of healing for 30+ years, with such teachers as Rolling Thunder, a Cherokee medicine man, and Chief Two Trees, Cherokee chief and healer. His work with energizing and purifying water is well-known. Recent river cleanup efforts in the Virginia/Tennessee area were spearheaded by Raymon.

Raymon's many efforts include working to end all forms of physical abuse. He clears schools and other places of left-over negative energies. He educates children in schools about environmental issues. He has formed the Raymon Grace Foundation to further these activites. Raymon's interests also include Alternative Self Healing and medical intuition, Finding Your Life Purpose, Spirit Communication and Prosperity / Self-empowerment.

Raymon teaches in a "down-to-earth" manner that characterizes his life (he doesn't own a suit and tie). His teaching is filled with stories from life experience, and sprinkled with humor. He has spoken and taught at many healing, dowsing, and Silva method conferences and schools. Raymon's personal website is www.raymongrace.us.

Finding My Teacher
By Roy "Dudge" Dudgeon

Someone once told me that when the student is ready, the teacher will appear. After decades of study and searching, my teacher appeared to me at the 2010 ASD convention in Vermont. I wasn’t really looking for a spiritual guru the first day of the convention; I was just browsing around the vendor’s booths in the gym at Lynnville College where the convention was being held. One of the tables had a display of interesting pendulums made from 45 caliber bullets. More interesting was the gentleman standing behind the table. He was wearing a cowboy hat, boots and a denim jacket and jeans. His long hair was tied back in a ponytail and the salt and pepper color matched his full beard. What most impressed me was his strength of character and presence. He greeted me as if I had known him all my life. That man was Raymon Grace.

After listening to him speak to the assembled convention, I knew that I had found my teacher. Raymon combined aspects of Shamanism and Dowsing together in a way that struck me at my core. His easy manner and down to earth approach was in contrast to so many other speakers I had heard over the years. At the next break, I again visited Raymon’s table in the gym and purchased a copy of his books “Techniques That Work for Me” and “The Future is Yours, Do Something About It”, which he autographed, and a bullet pendulum. He told me he was having an August workshop in Charlotte and I said I would attend.

The timing of the August Workshop could not have been better. My wife and I had just separated and I had moved to Hendersonville from Spartanburg. The techniques I learned over the weekend gave me a strong basis for a daily practice that enabled me to weather a stormy period of my life and sail past it to calm seas. Many of the people I met at the workshop had traveled from as far away as Florida to attend. My second workshop with Raymon was in Spartanburg this past March and was a completely new experience.

This September 17th, we are honored to have Raymon Grace as speaker at our quarterly meeting. Raymon was first introduced to Dowsing at an Appalachian Chapter meeting where he was speaking on the Silva Method. A few years have passed since his last visit and we want to have a capacity crowd again to welcome him.

A Visit To Carnac
By John Payne

On one of my trips home to the U.K. last year I decided to visit the Normandy and Brittany coasts in France. After taking the ferry across from Dover, I first drove down to the part of Normandy that was called Omaha Beach in WW2. There was a very real sense of the intense fighting that took place there; it was frightening but also fascinating.

Carnac 1 The lines of ancient standing stones at Carnac in Brittany were the main focus of my visit in France. On arrival on this incredibly cold day, I was in awe of these stones, of which there are hundreds, ranging from 3 feet to 15 feet in height. I attempted a quick estimation of how old they are, using the pendulum, and got 3800 years as an approximate age. Dowsing the stones was difficult on this very windy day; I was not able to check for ley lines because of the wind.

Carnac 4 A short drive away at Le Menec was a huge stone lying on its side, estimated to weigh 120 tons. Beside it was a reconstructed stone chamber. There are many such constructions and other kinds of sacred sites in this region, including a stone chamber with a circle of stones surrounding it.

Carnac 2 These sites must have had significant meaning to the ancient peoples of the area, a meaning that we don’t know for certain but can try to dowse for. It is obvious that the elders and shamans of the day knew the science of dowsing, because all the significant stones and circles are located where ley lines converge or cross.

JPayne Since becoming a dowser in 2004 I have embarked on many a quest to the stone monoliths, henges, and crop circles all over England and Scotland. Earlier this year I visited the stone circles of the Orkney Islands in Scotland.

John Payne is a member of Appalachian Chapter and operates a jewelry business, Goldcrafters of London, at 341 N. Main St. in Hendersonville. (www.goldcraftersoflondon.com)

Help Wanted - No Experience Necessary

Appalachian Chapter of ASD is looking for enthusiastic members to participate in the quarterly meetings in various capacities. No prior experience is required; only the desire to help your fellow dowsers have an enjoyable and educational experience.

For the September 17th meeting, 2 persons to handle the book sales table are urgently needed, as Victoria will be away--it involves handling cash and looking up sales tax amounts. We will also need additional people to handle the registration at the door as an overflow crowd is expected for the Raymon Grace program. Anyone who is physically able can assist with the set-up of the chairs in the auditorium. Two more folks are needed to set out the refreshments at the break.

If you are interested in making this the best program ever, call a Board member to offer your services or just show up early (11 am) on the day of the meeting.

Finally, we are currently operating without a Chapter Secretary. Unlike the other opportunities to serve, this position is an elected office and requires knowledge of Excel worksheets which are used for membership records. In addition to membership maintenance, the secretary takes meeting minutes and handles correspondence. If you are personally interested in this position or would like to nominate someone please contact Roy (Dudge) Dudgeon at 458-5675 or dudge@att.net. The Board looks forward to working with you.

June Social

By Roy Dudgeon
The June Chapter social was held at Laura Nelson’s home and horse farm in Pisgah Forest. Ten dowsers were in attendance and had a delicious and healthy pot luck lunch. Also participating were Nikki and Max, Laura’s canine and feline companions.

Laura had identified an area in the wooded area of her property that she believed to be a “fairy circle”. Several dowsers armed with L rods and pendulums visited the location and located a very strong positive vortex with rays approximately ten feet from the center in the exact spot Laura had detected. Obviously the fairy folk had a strong welcome presence there.

In another spot not far away was a massive ancient tree that Laura visited frequently to commune and meditate with. The tree had a dowsable horizontal energy shaft running through it about five feet from the ground. On the way back to the house, we were greeted by Sonny and Dixie, Laura’s beautiful equine companions.

Thank you Laura for a wonderful and special afternoon.

July Social

By Marilyn Gasque
social2 Dora Nell did it again! We know why we always love to go there! Her place had more outdoor oriental adornments, more garden and special plantings and even more crystals around the hilltop healing stone. And, of course, true to form, there was ICE CREAM! Good thing it melts as it was able to fit in after most of us had two trips to the potluck table (or was it just me?).

social1 Fran Westin expanded our minds with the new healing method she is studying called The Emotion Code (from same name book by Bradley Nelson). Muscle checking is involved so it fits nicely with us dowsers to learn about. Lee B. was in rare form ("Interesting--") and was our Professor Extraordinaire for the newbies. How lucky we are to have him give of himself so freely to teach and entertain us. We must be special, huh? social3

Lots of goosebumps were felt when Grace's gathering blessing included the Chapter's dowsers on the Other Side. For them we are grateful.

Thank you, Dora Nell, for being the hostess with the most-est--as usual.

August Picnic

By Chiwa
We had a beautiful day to gather at the Hawk and Ivy B&B in Barnardsville. We walked through lush gardens up to the bedecked barn above the pond. About forty folks sat at green-clothed tables to chat, eat, and look out into the serene field and meadow surrounding the barn. Lee Barnes led us in a dowser tutorial after the meal, and then we broke up into smaller affinity circles: Lee continued on with more dowsing talk; a Nature Spirits, Devas and Fairies group took to the lawn and a corner of the barn. Geopathic zones and their relation to sleep (or the lack of it) was led by Richard Crutchfield. It felt like we left the gathering refreshed and nourished by the knowledge that we are the ones we've been waiting for, and as we grow in our knowledge and our abilities we can be the antennas for calmness that can help balance the speed of the outside world.

October Social

Marilyn Gasque is communicating with Carl Sandburg's Home in Flat Rock as being a possible site for the October dowser social/picnic. Not sealed in stone yet, so please pay attention to the website for info or call Marilyn 692-5197.

Consider hosting a social in 2012. You will discover a lot about your property that you didn't know, and learn new techniques from experienced dowsers.

From Mother Earth News, January 1984

Last fall, carrying a sparsely packed knapsack and all manner of misconceptions about dowsing, MOTHER EARTH NEWS staffer Fran Adams trekked off to the lovely Green Mountains of upstate Vermont to visit the Dowsing Center of America in order to seek out the truth behind the legendary forked willow branch. She made two startling discoveries: [1] that modern-day dowsers think there's a whole lot more to their art than just snooping out water, and [2] that—son of a gun!—as far as she could tell, it really and truly …. well, read Fran's report to see for yourself what happened.
